I hate loathe headaches. The make me feel useless and tired. In case you can’t tell I have a good ole migraine. We don’t get along very well. I have been making sure I don’t have too much or around my triggers, but here it is anyway.

Our show went well today at UF, they have a gorgeous theatre. It’s a double mezzanine and a huge flyspace. It was nice. Their tech crew was also fabulous, they were very helpful and kind to the whole lot of us. I hope we perform in more places like that.

Currently we are in Ft. Myers, and have a show tomorrow at 10am. This is going to be a hectic week, we have at least 1 show everyday, so I am happy we are finally starting to get into the swing of things.

Ok, I am off to rest my head and hopefully sleep will take away this headache.

Gator Nation! March 30, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — liriope @ 11:38 pm

Today I had a really good day. Jessica and I went to the University of Florida Campus and walked around Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. We took pictures, walked next to the field, and had a lot of fun. Yes I am a dork, and yes I love the Gators. gator nation Baby! Anyway, we had a good time and enjoyed our morning.

This afternoon the group of us went and walked around Devil’s Millhopper just north of Gainesville. It is a state park, with a nature trail and a sinkhole. We walked the whole thing, including the 232 steps down and back up from the sinkhole. Everyone got bitten by bugs, but we had a good time none the less.

Other than that the only news i have is today (March 30th) is my 9 month anniversary with Jimmy. I just wish I could have been with him today.

Crazy Stuff March 29, 2008

So, our show went well today, we are actually having fun and it showed. The audience was dead, but other than that it was a great show for us. Our drive to Gainesville was long, but not bad. I got to play “navigator” and the whole van played mad libs for most of the trip.

Now for the craziness.

I was walking with Chance to the gas station so he could buy cigarettes, and all I can do is shake me head about what we witnessed. As we are walking we hear this CRASH and THUD.  We look over to the McDonald’s across the street and see an ’80’s model Chevrolet backed into a tree and over bushes. We stop in our tracks. Then we see and child no more than 8 years old jump out of the front seat and run into the McDonald’s, leaving her siblings screaming in the car. 30 seconds to a minute later the little girl runs out of the restaurant and hops into the car. A minute or so later the mom comes out McDonald’s, very nonchalantly, and sits in the driver’s seat. Leaving the door open, she drive the car into a parking spot. Then she gets out, shuts the door, and goes back into the  McDonald’s.

Chance and I go into the gas station, and when we come out, the car is still in the parking lot.

We can’t help but watch to see what happens next. Well, the Mom comes out of the McDonald’s with a bunch of food. She puts the food in the front seat, shuts the door and walks to the passenger side of the car. After she opens the door, you can see her whapping her child who backed the  car into a tree. After she does this about 4 times, she shuts the door, goes to the driver seat and leaves the parking lot. As she pulls out, Chance and I see the big dent in the back quarter panel of the car. All we can do is stop and shake our heads.

All of this at 11 o’clock at night.

what a day.

Another Day in FT. Lauderdale March 28, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — liriope @ 11:28 pm

I have spent a lot of time in Ft. Lauderdale, and I am ready to move onto the next city. It’s not that I haven’t had fun, but I am going stir crazy.

This morning, Jess, Megan, and I ran some errands. We all had to go to the post office, but I had to stop by the library first. I don’t understand why people are so stupid. The woman I had to deal with was rude, inconsiderate, and not too bright. On the other hand, I am now a member of the Broward Co. Library, I can use only the computers though. Regardless, we all got our errands done and could enjoy the rest of our day.

Half the group went to the beach again, but I did not want to put my skin through another round of UV rays that strong, so Jess and I decided to stay at the hotel and hang out by the pool. I used sunblock and went into my room every once in a while. I also got a good ways into my book Atonement. It is awesome. I love it right now, and I will probably end up finishing it tomorrow, we shall see.

Other than that, things are going pretty slow around here. We have a show in Sunrise, FL tomorrow afternoon and then we drive to Gainesville, FL. I can’t wait to go to Gator Nation!!!!! I am actually really excited about that, and I think it will be fun to walk around the University of Florida and see the stadium. Yes, I am a nerd.

Love~ me.

Miami March 27, 2008

Today we had a show in Miami, our second show in front of kids. This performance went alright, I didn’t feel I was up to par, but the kids ate up our production. They loved it! I think we are starting to gel onstage as a cast and becoming more comfortable with our roles and making them our own.

We headed back to Ft. Lauderdale this afternoon, and went to another local mall to do something in our free time. We had a wonderful time, and a few people bought some stuff (I bought sunglasses).

Jonathan (AKA Papa) bought R. Kelly’s Trapped in the Closet, his “rock opera.” It was more like a comedy, but we had fun mocking R. Kelly and his melodrama. The guy sang everything, even the other characters stuff. It was great fun.

I had to finish putting together all my stuff for Imagination Stage. I am applying for their Technical Apprentice program. I think my essay rocks, so we shall see what happens with it. It’s a 10 month thing, but it’s in DC, so not too far from home.

Jimmy went through his 3rd degree tonight, and I am so proud of him. I am the most proud girl in the world tonight, because I am dating a Master Mason.

First Show! March 26, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — liriope @ 10:54 pm

So, today we had our first show…. It went better than I expected. For those of you who I haven’t told what I am doing, we have two hours to load in our set, do a mic check, vocal warm up, physical warm up, and get ready for the show. It’s not a lot of time for what we have to do. We got it all done, just barely. Overall the show went very well; it was great to have an audience of kids who react to what we are doing.

After our show, we drove to Miami from Ft. Lauderdale which took 45 minutes. Not too bad. Since we had an entire afternoon free, the whole group decided to go to a local mall and grab lunch, and then walk around before going to see Shutter.

There were a few problems with my day from this point forward…. First, no one in the mall spoke English. No joke. It was “The Mall of the Americas,” and it was a Hispanic mall. Second, Chance and I grabbed lunch from the Chinese food place in the food court… again they only spoke Spanish. Plus- the food was terrible. Third, we all went to get ice cream in the food court, I got mint chocolate chip in a waffle cone. It was really good until I found a dark hair in my ice cream and freaked out. The women were very nice, again no English, and gave me a free cone larger than what I had ordered plus sprinkles. Fourth, the movie Shutter is not a horror/suspense movie as advertised- to our entire group it was a comedy. I love horror movies and this one just did not get even close to the genre even if Joshua Jackson was the lead male.

Needless to say, we all had a wonderful day even with some bumps in the road. I am glad we have our first show under our belt and many more to look forward to. We have a show in Miami tomorrow morning, and then we are going to spend the afternoon running around the city, then back to Ft. Lauderdale for more shows.

Keep me posted on life, and what’s going on wherever you are.

Beach Day March 25, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — liriope @ 11:23 pm

Today we all went to the beach. It was great…. played in the ocean, walked around, enjoyed a good lunch with a really bad server. All in all a good day.

The downside- I am Irish, and I burn really bad. I am no longer “Liriope”  I am now “Tomato Girl.” I am putting aloe on it, but it still really sucks. I feel gross with all this junk on.

I can’t wait to do  show. I feel like we have been on vacation, and tomorrow should be very interesting. I think we have everything still in our heads, but it’s going to be a whole new experience having kids watching the show. It’s so exciting!

While we were at Publix (a grocery store) we were waiting in line to pay and the woman in front of us was Danny from “A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila.” Yeah, it was pretty cool, but I was tired and wanted to eat my food and get some sleep.

Sorry if this post is very random and choppy, but I am sleepy….I will write more tomorrow from Miami.

Love ~me.

We are Here March 24, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — liriope @ 5:53 pm

Well, we have made our way down the east coast and are finally in Ft. Lauderdale. Thank God! I am glad we have finished our trip and have a full day off prior to our first show. I think we are going to hit the beach and maybe do a little shopping.

I am starting to miss home, and I’m getting emotional because if it. Chance has listened to me and been a really good shoulder. It has nothing to do with the people here, or the show, I am just not used to being away from home. This morning when I woke up, my first thought was “I miss my pillow.” How lame is that?

On a lighter note- I did laundry last night, and a woman was in front of me for the dryer. She left her stuff and went to bed…. So when her dryer said done I went to put my clothes in. Her’s were still wet…… So I put them on the table and dried my clothes. This woman was rude to me earlier, and I decided to be rude back. HA! Take your wet clothes and shove ‘em lady! I normally wouldn’t have done that- but it was 3am and I was through being a punching bag for other people’s rudeness. But  I have wonderfully clean clothes.

I also read “Lovely Bones” last night and today. GREAT book. Everyone should read it.

Love~ me.

Finally in Florida March 24, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — liriope @ 12:06 am

Well, we have finally made it to Florida, but we are still not at the beginning of our tour. So far, so good. I did 4 hours of our 8 hour drive today, and it felt like an hour. Our hotel in Jacksonville is nice, a La Quinta, and there is a hot tub and pool. Yes, I went in both at 10pm at night.

Once we all got settled into the hotel, we went out to easter dinner at Joe’s Crab Shack ~ it wasn’t too bad, I had amazing shrimp and a drink.  We got lost trying to get there, but it was right on the water, and it was  so nice. We all had a great time, and enjoyed ourselves.

Tomorrow we finish our drive and will have a whole day off before our first show. I can’t wait actually. It will be nice to get the show up and running, hopefully time will go by faster so i will be home sooner to my loved ones. Not that I am not having fun on the road- I love it, but I love my family, friends, and Jimmy too.

Keep me posted on life guys, and keep checking facebook for more pictures.

Love~me.
