Easiest 10 bucks I ever Made. April 30, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — liriope @ 11:10 pm

We are currently in College Station, TX and we are staying right next to Texas A&M University. Tonight after we got dinner we decided to drive around campus and see what we could see. It’s a very beautiful campusand made me miss college. Well- as we were leaving we saw a kickball game going on down a hill and Chance said I’ll give 20 bucks to whoever goes down there and just kicks the ball. Just run down there and kick the ball.

I volunteered.

I ran down the hill, and said, can I kick the ball? and then ran and kicked it. They kids were really nice and one guy even offered to let me play in the game. I said I can’t but thanks! When they found out it was a dare they laughed and were trying to get me to keep playing.

I got back to the van, and Chance said he would only give me 10 because I asked to kicked the ball before I kicked it. Oh well- it was fun and it was totally random and I get 10 bucks. WA HOO!

On another note- our venue today was very interesting…. it was a civic center and we were on another pop up stage. We had to tred very carefully because if we danced like we normally would our feet would have been louder than the music. The show went well and we had a good time.

Only 24 day until I come home and today is my 10 month anniversary with Jimmy. Life is pretty good right now.

Texas is HUGE April 29, 2008

Our show in Austin wasn’t so bad, we were on the marqee, the load in was easy, and Lisa’s family came to the show so everyone’s engery was boosted. I had a good time, and the space wasn’t so bad.

The problem with today was our drive.

Actually, it was quite comical, but WOW. I didn’t realize that Texas was so much country. I know, I know- it’s a big state and I should expect it but goodness. There is no direct (interstate) route from Austin to Lufkin so we took a lot of regular roads. In the course of four hours we saw more cows than I can count as well as quite a few longhorns and some eagles. There were cows milling around by an open gate on a farm right next to the road, and on another farm we saw an ostrich. Yes, I did say ostrich. Go figure.

We also passed quite a few homes with oil pumps on them and two with working oil derriks, and I have never seen that before. I grew up in two small towns but there were times we did not see anything for miles and miles. I was quite impressed. Eastern Texas is very beautiful but unless you are in or near a city there isn’t much.

One show tomorrow and another long drive, but life is pretty good. Less than a month and I am going home and I get to see my family and Jimmy. I can’t wait!

So Long San Antonio April 28, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — liriope @ 11:54 pm

Well, we left San Antonio this afternoon. Our show went really well minus the fact that the people at the venue wanted us to pay for using their sound and using any more than 20 lights. Needless to say we didn’t. The upside to the theatre is they forgot to cancel the catering they ordered for another group so we got catered breakfast as well as a hot catered lunch. It was so awesome to not have fast food for once! I was really happy about that.

We had a short drive to Austin, and some of us laid out by the pool this afternoon and I also uploaded a bunch of pictures to facebook- you should check them out. Not too much else to report though….

Days off Rock April 27, 2008

Yesterday we had a wonderful day. I got to see the Alamo, the Riverwalk, and quite a bit of San Antonio. Just as my father asked me to do- I looked at the outer walls of the Alamo historical site and found the two Masonic plaques about the men who dies there that were Masons.

We all had a great time celebrating Megan’s birthday- we went to two restaurants and got to see the Festival that was downtown this week. The second place we went was really entertaining…… Megan got hit on by a lesbian and her straight guy friend; she got three numbers from guys; our waiter hit on her like no tomorrow; I wore a dress; tequila was our friend and foe; and I did something that made me feel GREAT.

At the second restaurant a Marine walked in on his own. We had been there for a while and he sat down at the bar. I excused myself from the table, walked over to him and said “thank you.” The man looked very surprised. He shook my hand and said “thank you, it’s very good to know there is still support for our troops.” After that I went back to my table, but as soon as our waiter came around I had a request for him. I asked him to put the Marine’s meal and drinks on my tab, and that is exactly what he did. The bartender came over to talk to me and find out what to say to the gentleman when he asked for his bill. I told him to say whatever he wanted… the bill has been taken care of…. someone has paid for your meal….. it’s on the house…. It didn’t matter to me what was said, I just wanted to pay for his meal. When he walked out of the restaurant he was smiling. That was all I needed.

I had a wonderful night and today was a relaxing day. I got all of my laundry done, and watched tv. Tomorrow is another day and another city.

I apologize for not writing yesterday, I crashed very early. We had our first 3 show day, and even though it was fun, I was truly exhausted after our 4 hour drive. A fun tid-bit about that- after two hours I sitting in a van I realized that I was sitting in Ketchup…… yep I had ketchup butt.

Today we are going into the city and celebrating Megan’s Birthday! She is 25 and we are going to enjoy our day off. A few of us went to the Alamo earlier, and I took plenty of pictures and saw some Masonic stuff as well.

Last Page of Hotels! April 24, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — liriope @ 10:19 pm

Well, I am in the home stretch now……. we are on our last page of hotels and a month from today I will be on a plane back to South Carolina. I have had a lot of fun on this tour, but there are wonderful things at home that I miss very much.

Some other news: as I mentioned before I am in the running for an internship at Florida Rep…. well I am their third choice. That means there are two people in front of me. I could still get the job, but who knows. I know I have a job in Boston, but I don’t really want it, and there is also an option for a job in DC; I will find out about whether or not I get a second interview tomorrow. I really just want another job. I hope I get something. If not, it’s back to the Charlotte audition scene I go.

I have to get up at 4:30am tomorrow and we have a three show day. Goodnight all.

Love~me.

MEXICO! April 23, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — liriope @ 11:32 pm

Well, I have been to Mexico. I may be sick as a puppy- but man, I made sure I got to Mexico. We are staying in Brownsville, TX and the boarder is maybe 10 minutes away. Jessica, Chance and I went over and it was really easy to get in. They didn’t even look at our ID’s. I don’t have a passport, but I still got in. We wandered around Matamoros for a few hours. We were stopped at a red light and some random guy came up and hopped on our van and started washing our disgusting windows. He did a GREAT JOB! We also stopped in some shops, walked around and took pictures, and could not understand anyone. Our way back was really interesting. We got stopped at the boarder and the patrol took an x-ray of our van! That was really cool. They asked us a bunch of questions, like what we were doing in Mexico, where were we from, who owned the van, etc. They seemed to have a difficult time realizing that we were actors on a tour. Anyway- we had a blast and I got to Mexico!

We had dinner at an Irish pub and it was terrible. All I wanted was chicken soup…. easy enough- right? Well our server forgot to bring me my soup when Jessica and Chance had their food. I had to ask the waitress about my soup after 10 minutes. (She was ignoring because she already pegged us to be bad tippers). After chance and Jessica were almost done with their meals i finally got my soup. Chicken soup is easy enough…. but mine on the very top had the bones of a chicken neck in it!!!!!! AGAIN!!!!!! I got up and was bringing my soup over to the waitress and she walked right passed me. I said “excuse me” and I told her that there were bones in my soup. I didn’t know there was going to be bones in my soup so may i please have the tortilla soup if there are no bones in that. She responded with “Oh. Ok. Can you take your soup up to the kitchen and tell them?” REALLY? REALLY? I am a patron in your restaurant and you want me to take my soup to the kitchen. I said no, and she could take it. About 10 minutes after that I got my soup, and it was pretty good. I just can’t get over the waitress…. she shorted me on my change, she gave us horrible service, and she was rude. So I left her a penny, and a note telling her how as a server I was prepared to leave at least a 20% tip, but with the way she treated us I felt she only deserved a penny. And I left it at that.

Now I am off to bed.

Being sick blows April 21, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — liriope @ 11:04 pm

So I hate being sick….. it really sucks. My head feels like it should explode and I can’t help but talk through my nose. Even with being sick- the show went decently well. We were in an auditorium, and the TD of the theatre was awesome. He gave us coffee and hot water for tea, it was great for those of us that were sick.

Our lunch was really interesting….. we went to an authentic Tex Mex place and I ordered Enchiladas…. safe enough. Boy was I wrong on that one. I found a chicken neck in my food. The bone and part of the shoulder. EEEEEEWWWWWW!!!!!! I couldn’t eat anymore after that and just gave the waitress my plate and showed her what was in my food. When we went up to the front to pay, I explained to the girl at the register what was in my food and I got my meal for free. I just don’t think I am going to eat Mexican for a while…. a very long while.

Only a two hour drive today, and we are in Seguin, TX. I have to admit, there is not much here. Some of us went into town and went to the post office, but that was all we really did today. I hope I feel better tomorrow.

Love~ me.

Dallas TX showday April 20, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — liriope @ 11:28 pm

Well, we had our show this morning in Richardson, TX about 20 minutes north of Dallas. The show went well I have to say- minus the fact that our Beauty is still sick and can’t sing. I feel so bad for her. To top it off, I woke up this morning with a cold… it’s the last thing i need right now. I need to be healthy and strong for this tour or I am going to be in trouble. Right now it is just a cold, and I am praying it stays that way.

Texas has some of the most confusing interchanges I have ever seen to get on a highway, off a highway, or while I am on a highway. Our Penske Truck got lost and ended up an hour north of Ft. Worth, when our next stop was two hours south of Dallas. Jessica and Jonathan eventually got to our hotel about 45 minutes ago- two hours after the rest of us got here.

The three of us decided to grab some food to go at Denny’s. The problem with getting breakfast food to go is, I need a lot of salt and pepper for my eggs. There was no way the little packets of pepper would but it for me, I for the first time in my life I stole something. I stole a set of salt and pepper shakers from Denny’s in Temple Texas. I feel like a rebel!

Anyway, not much going on here just driving, shows, and sleeping in a different hotel every night.

Love ~me.

JFK, South Fork Ranch, Texas Stadium, etc April 20, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — liriope @ 1:03 am

Jessica, Chance and myself went all over the city of Dallas today. We had so much fun! Our first stop was north of the city at South Fork Ranch. That is where the TV show Dallas was filmed, and we got to see the house, the stables, the museum, all of it. I even bought a key-chain to celebrate the event. It was really fun to be honest, and we learned a lot about the TV show and how it was filmed.

After our first stop we drove into town. We parked in the city, and walked over to where Elm, Main and Commerce intersected. It is also the place where John F. Kennedy was shot in 1963. Yep, we walked on the grassy knoll, stood on the X on the road that marked where JFK was shot, looked up to the 6th floor window, thought about conspiracies, and went into the museum. A little tid-bit: the place where JFK was shot was actually the “entrance” into Dallas… it is where the founder of Texas had his home, and the area was a great transportation innovation before the death of JFK.

We also walked around the historical downtown section of Dallas, saw the JFK monument, ate at the Spegetti Warehouse. We saw this really cool artist on the grass, he was making beautiful paintings out of spray paint and that’s it. He used a few tools, and newspaper, but it was with spray paint! Jessica and I couldn’t help it- we both bought one.

As we were driving to Texas Stadium, we got turned around, and ended up driving past the Dr. Pepper factory and Jessica was stoked. We illegally parked at Texas stadium and took pictures of us in front of Cowboy’s stuff (I know, I know). Then we got back in the van and drove home.

OH! When we got back to the hotel- Jessica missed the turn into the parking lot so we jumped the curb in the next parking to to get into our parking lot. It was priceless!

Now I have just finished stealing music from Lisa and watching Across The Universe and I am off to bed.
